We’re not talking speed dating, we’re talking resumes! The harsh reality is your resume won’t get read from cover to cover. It’s often stated that hiring managers and recruiters make their decision in 6-8 seconds.

👉 GET NOTICED. Apply these 7 attention grabbing tips;

✔Visual appeal - Use a simple, clear layout and consistent formatting. Ensure there is white space. Avoid clutter and columns.

✔Include coherent sections, use bullet points, and bold headings.

✔Maximise your prime real estate – This is the top third of page one. Write it with the reader in mind – what’s in it for them?

✔Make action verbs your friend! Instead of “Responsible for managing/achieving/organising ….. ”, try “Managed, achieved, organised….”

✔Make your first page pack a punch by listing your career highlights and quantifiable achievements. 🥇

✔Check your spelling, grammar and punctuation. NB your computer’s spellchecker may not pick up on typos written in CAPITAL LETTERS

✔Quality over quantity – aim for 2-3 pages

🔥 HOT TIP - Use simple sentences and avoid long paragraphs. The free Hemingway App will help make your writing easier to read.
